Our Story
Frigården has deep roots on Fyn — the estate was originally built in 1731 and functioned as a traditional Danish farm. Over time, Frigården evolved, but its character and connection to the land remained. A major transformation came in 2008, when Brian and Tina Knudsen renovated the property with a clear vision: to create a modern and welcoming family home. They thoughtfully restored the main building, blending contemporary comfort with classic Danish charm.
Since 2018 Frigården has been lovingly cared for by Birthe and Kurt Nielsen, who pour their energy and heart into keeping the estate tidy, welcoming, and full of life. Over the years, they have modernized the old barn to an activity hall, created a cozy lounge space, tended the gardens, and continuously improved the property — not just for their family, but to share its charm with guests of all ages.
In the years since, the estate has continued to be shaped with care and attention. Over time, the fields have become home to rows of Christmas trees, adding a unique seasonal beauty and a touch of Danish countryside charm. Surrounded by open fields and the sea just a short walk away, Frigården has slowly blossomed into the peaceful retreat it is today. With gentle modern updates and renovations, Frigården stands renewed — a place where history, family, and nature come together, and where guests can create memories that last a lifetime!
